About Us

Tapestries of Ohio, Inc. is an ensemble with members representing Trumbull, Mahoning, Portage and Columbiana Counties. The ensemble is governed by a board of trustees, consisting of singers from the group and/or community at-large members. This select and versatile ensemble primarily performs a cappella music from the Medieval and Renaissance periods. Some of the singers or other musicians perform on period instruments, such as trumpets, recorders, harp, harpsichord, and guitar to provide an enhancement to the ambience of the performances.

Auditions are required for admittance into the ensemble. The audition process consists of singing a prepared solo in addition to sight-reading your voice part within another selection chosen by the director. Your voice range will be checked. You will be asked to share your musical experience and/or background with the rest of the ensemble.

The rehearsal season begins in August with weekly rehearsals. Each singer is expected to be diligent about learning the music and being prepared for each rehearsal. Regular attendance is expected. All music and script is to be memorized. Singers can be provided with a period costume, if needed.
